WPVI and 6ABC.com are reporting on a horrific automobile accident that occurred at approximately 1:45 this morning in Philadelphia’s Feltonville neighborhood.

Authorities say that three people are dead and one is critically injured. The accident occurred on Whttaker Avenue near D Street.

The initial investigation suggests that the driver of a Toyota, 29 years old, identity not released, turned into the path of an oncoming Honda.

The resulting collision caused the Honda to become engulfed in flames.

The Toyota driver was thrown clear of his vehicle. He was later received at a local hospital in critical condition.

The identities of the deceased in this accident have not yet been released. 

In an interview with the media, Captain Frank Palumbo of the Philadelphia Police Department states that speed may be a factor in the crash.

No charges have yet been filed.
